KAN Yao-Ming is a Taiwanese author with a Hakka origin. His writings are often colored with Hakka language, culture and history, mixing farce, tall tales, folk legends and country memories to create a unique magic realist world. KAN’s recent novels include Killing Ghosts , Story of a Funeral, Pangca Girl (邦查女孩) and The Summer when General Dong Visited (冬將軍來的夏天) as the most recent. He has received various literary awards, including the United Daily News Literature Prize, the Lin Rong-San Literature Prize, Wu Zhuo-liu Literature Prize, and the United Daily New Novelist Prize.
